
OLAP: Pivot Tables
Multidimensional database pivot tables created with MS Excel.
For this assignment, I was tasked with creating pivot tables, using sorting and slicers, that customers can use to learn about the business, more specifically activity and performance questions about the company. Customers can use these pivot tables to answer questions that may arise, such as which company employee performs the best, the company’s best-selling product, and item sales specific to certain quarters.
Completion of this project allowed me to gain experience in creating pivot tables. I learned how to properly use specific measures and dimensions when called for. One valuable piece of information that I’ve gained through this experience is that slicers and sorting helps provide you the answer you’re looking for within seconds. No matter how widespread the data you’re analyzing may be, these tools help you find answers with ease.
