Course Reflection

The most important skills I’ve learned in this course are definitely database hard skills. I further improved my ability to use excel and learned how to use a new application, Power BI. Possessing these hard skills are crucial for those looking to work in the business world. I applied my knowledge of these skills to various class projects, such as completing pivot tables, utilizing decision support systems, and practicing in virtual SimNet labs. When using Excel or Power BI, I sometimes found myself having trouble remembering the exact steps needed to perform a certain task. Luckily, I was able to research until I found what step I missed or where I could find the section I was searching for. At times, I also had trouble remembering certain concepts because of how similar they sound to each other. The knowledge and skills I learned in this course will prove valuable in both my future academic and professional endeavors, especially considering I plan on continuing down the business pathway. Microsoft skills, especially those involving Excel and Access, are crucial to master if you want to secure employment. I plan on showing employers the skills I’ve gained thus far, especially considering these database applications are used in almost every field.
